Latin 1: First Form

Designed by FreePik

First Form Latin by Memoria Press is a continuation of your student’s journey into learning Latin. In this course, students will build on their previously established Latin vocabulary and knowledge of grammatical forms, adding 4th and 5th Declension nouns as well as the grammatical forms necessary to decline those nouns.  The grammatical forms needed to conjugate 1st and 2nd conjugation verbs into the perfect, pluperfect and future perfect tenses will be presented.  Verbs in the 3rd and 4th conjugations will be introduced as well as the necessary grammatical forms to conjugate these verbs into all 6 verb tenses.  Given that over 80% of multisyllabic English words have a Latin root, students will continue identifying Latin roots in unfamiliar English words as a strategy to determine the word’s meaning.  This course will also expand upon your student’s previously established knowledge of Roman history, geography, culture and mythology.

A prerequisite of Latin Intro (Latina Christiana) or equivalent course is required.
